Alanna Ferran has entered the Youth Athlete of the Year contest and needs people to vote for her.
The contest is sponsored by Sports Illustrated, CBS sportscaster Russell Wilson (a former NFL quarterback) and the Why Not You Foundation.
The Youth Athlete of the Year wins $25,000 and will represent 3Brand in Sports Illustrated and on CBS.
“We have currently fought so hard to stay in the top and currently have made the top 10,” said Alanna’s father Brian Ferran, who along with his wife Erica is working hard to get votes for Alanna, who is a seventh grader at Inman Junior/Senior High School and is a member of the cheerleading squad.
“We really could use some more help and believe Ad Astra Radio would be a great place to help us get the word out and get us moving forward to get to the top five if not higher. We would love if you would help us share her story and spread the word for my daughter Alanna.”
Alanna’s Athlete of the Year bio says Alanna is “cheering through even the most difficult, painful times in her life.”
Alanna on her bio said her inspiration is Averie Mountain, Miss Kansas Teen Volunteer 2026, Miss Kansas Teen 2024 and Miss Kansas Teen in Action winner in 2023.
Mountain on her Facebook page said she is an advocate for children of all abilities.
“The person who inspires me is Averie Mountain because she inspired to do something even when they thought their disabilities got in the way,” Alanna said. “She also is a Level 6 competitive cheerleader.”
Alanna said on the bio that the one moment in her athletic journey that makes her proudest is “a moment is when me and my team got rings for first place.”
