The Iola Area Chamber of Commerce is inviting local businesses and residents to participate in its second annual Scarecrow Decorating Contest this fall. Participants can purchase a $10 scarecrow form at the Iola Area Chamber of Commerce, located at 10 W. Jackson Ave., and decorate their scarecrow for display in the community.
Scarecrows must be placed and photos submitted to [email protected] by Thursday, Oct. 1. The contest includes separate prize categories for businesses and residential entries, giving community members of all kinds an opportunity to participate.
Public voting will take place Oct. 7 through Oct. 12, with the winner announced Tuesday, Oct. 13. Participants should leave their scarecrows on display through the contest period, with scarecrow take-down scheduled for Monday, Nov. 2.
The chamber encourages residents and businesses to get creative with their decorations and help bring a festive fall atmosphere to Iola. Scarecrow forms are available for purchase Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Iola Area Chamber of Commerce.
