Isaiah Doherty and the Haven High School boys cross country team both placed first at the Pratt-Skyline Invitational Saturday at the Skyline Course in Pratt.
Doherty, a senior, placed first in the varsity boys 5K race with a time of 17 minutes, 24.41 seconds.
Haven’s Jayden Idacavage placed 15th in 19:47.58, followed by Jordan Kaufman, 21st, 20:16.86; Camden Behnk, 30th, 20:52.24; and Wyatt Bontrager, 47th, 21:47.07.
Nickerson’s Aiden Brinkley placed seventh in 18:26.2, followed by Andy Huggard, 23rd, 20:32.33; Luke Shelton, 32nd, 20:58.73; Dale Landry Smith, 33rd, 20:59.78; Cooper McConnell, 35th, 21:12.69; and Carson Ward, 54th, 24:20.96.
Haven sophomore Amelia Scott placed eighth in the varsity girls 5K race with a time of 25:18.81, followed by freshman Leah Behnk, 13th, 26:14.47; and senior Abby Thalmann, 22nd, 28:55.59.
Nickerson’s Bella Brinkley placed 16th, 27:00.55, followed by Jaycie Ohnmacht, 18th, 27:14.52; and Amanda Peil, 19th, 27:30.03.
The Haven Wildcats won the varsity team title with 58 points, edging out second-place Medicine Lodge by 5 points. Nickerson placed third with 85 points. Thomas More Prep-Marian placed 10th with 109 points and Larned placed 11th with 163 points.
The Haven junior varsity boys also placed first in the JV competition with 16 points and Haven Middle School’s 8th graders placed second with 20 points.
