Last winter, the U.S. saw one of its worst flu seasons in decades, driven in part by a highly mutated variant dubbed the “super flu.”
The 2026-27 flu vaccine has been updated to target that strain. So far, flu activity remains minimal in all 50 states, according to the CDC. But cases are expected to rise in the coming weeks, with flu season typically peaking between December and February.
