The Neosho County Community College women’s soccer team faced a difficult night Thursday, falling 7-0 to Johnson County Community College.

The match got away from the Panthers early, as Johnson County found the back of the net twice inside the opening five minutes. Neosho struggled to settle into the game during the first half, allowing Johnson County to build a significant advantage before halftime.

The Panthers responded with a much stronger second half. Neosho controlled much of the play after the break, showing greater confidence, energy and determination while continuing to play its style of soccer. Johnson County managed to add just one additional goal in the second half.

Despite the final score, the Panthers never stopped competing. The team continued to fight, continued to play and continued to believe in its way of playing until the final whistle.

It was an unfortunate result, but the Panthers will take the lessons from the match and use them to continue growing as a team.

Neosho will have a quick opportunity to respond, traveling to Kansas City to face Kansas City Kansas Community College on Saturday at 5 p.m. The Panthers will look to put tonight’s result behind them, regroup and compete with the same determination they showed throughout the second half.
