The Neosho County volleyball team put together an impressive week on the court, earning a pair of 3-0 victories over NEO and Highland.
The Panthers opened the week with a convincing win over NEO, taking the match 25-15, 25-21, 25-16. Neosho County turned in a strong all-around performance, hitting .328 as a team while recording 54 digs and 34 assists.
Hedi Koppany led the Panthers offensively against NEO, posting an impressive .474 hitting percentage. Eliza Maraschin also had a strong night at the net, finishing with a .364 hitting percentage. Georgia Rogers and Tori Thompson shared the workload in setting, recording 14 assists apiece.
Defensively, Carley Keller led the team with 13 digs, while Rogers added nine digs to help keep the Panthers in system and limit NEO’s offensive opportunities.
Neosho County carried that momentum into its second match of the week against Highland, again sweeping its opponent 3-0 with set scores of 25-19, 25-17 and 25-18.
The Panthers were even more efficient offensively in the second match, hitting .365 as a team. Neosho County also finished with 64 digs and 41 assists, demonstrating strong consistency on both sides of the net.
Maraschin led the offensive attack against Highland with a .416 hitting percentage, while Koppany continued her strong week with a .375 hitting percentage. Rogers and Thompson once again tied for the team lead in assists, each finishing with 16.
Keller anchored the defensive effort with an impressive 19 digs, while Scarlett Frace added 13 digs.
With two straight sweeps, Neosho County showed its ability to control the match from the service line to the net and back row. The Panthers’ combination of efficient hitting, balanced setting and strong defensive play resulted in a perfect 2-0 week and provided plenty of momentum heading into their next matches.
