MAIZE, Kan. – The McPherson boys soccer team had another tough opponent in the consolation semifinals of the Maize South Tournament on Thursday night. The Bullpups battled, but in the end, they fell to Andover 4-0.
Andover took advantage of multiple high-percentage opportunities to scored their four goals. McPherson goalkeeper Hunter Schroeder had a busy night but was still able to make five saves. McPherson had eight shots on goal, but came away empty in the end.
“While the final result wasn’t as close as we would have like, there were long stretches where the boys played some of their best soccer of the season,” head coach Chris Adrian said. “There were also a lot of bright spots in our attack, with several players really stepping up and showing what they are capable of.”
McPherson is 1-2 overall this season and will finish up the Maize South Tournament in the 7th Place Game on Saturday at noon against Wichita Classical School.
