A Salina man was arrested after allegedly firing a flare gun at another man .
According to Police Captain Jim Feldman, on Thursday around 6pm, officers were sent to the bus stop at Sunset Plaza on West Crawford. When police arrived they contacted a 30-year-old man walking away from the area. He told authorities an acquaintance had shot a flare gun at him and missed.
Officers also contacted 78-year-old W.L. McCullom. Police found a flare gun, which had been shot off, then hidden prior to their arrival. The investigation determined that McCullom had seen the man at the bus stop and confronted him about possibly stealing cigarettes.
He then aimed the flare gun and fired. The flare missed the victim and went across Crawford. There was no damage from the flare.
McCullom is now facing charges that could include aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a firearm.
