The Hutchinson Central Christian varsity volleyball team went 2-0 at its home triangular Tuesday night and improved to 7-3.
The Cougars defeated Nickerson 2-1 (25-18, 22-25, 25-19) and Smoky Valley 2-1 (21-25, 25-22, 25-22)
Smoky Valley defeated Nickerson 2-0 (25-19, 25-21). Smoky Valley is 3-5 and Nickerson dropped to 2-5.
The Nickerson junior varsity team fell to CCHS and Smoky Valley.
In other area volleyball matches:
• The Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarchs volleyball team knocked off the visiting Plainville Cardinals Tuesday night at Al Billinger Fieldhouse in Hays.
The Monarchs improved to 5-5 and Plainville dropped to 3-4.
• Moundridge defeated Classical School of Wichita 2-0 (25-14, 25-12).
• Cheney posted a 2-0 record at the Hesston Triangular Tuesday, Cheney defeated Hillsboro 2-0 (25-22, 25-22) and Hesston 2-1 (23-25, 25-23, 25-17). Hesston defeated Hillsboro 2-0 (25-22, 25-20).
Cheney improved to 8-2, Hesston is 5-2 and Hillsboro is 2-6. Cheney has won six straight matches.
