WICHITA, Kan. — The Hesston College men’s cross-country team placed ninth at the Wichita State University JK Gold Classic on Saturday at Clapp Cross Country Course, scoring 238 points in the 6,000-meter race. The Larks and were led by sophomore Jonah Krumme, who placed 45th overall with a time of 20:53.9.
Krumme paced a group of five Hesston runners who completed the race. Sophomore Nathan Lewis followed in 70th place with a time of 22:07.6, while freshman Jose Chaman finished 79th in 22:53.0. Junior Sebastian Pavlovich crossed the finish line in 89th at 24:34.6, followed by freshman Matthew Medina in 100th at 28:35.7 and sophomore Ivin Kollabathula in 101st at 28:48.1.
As a team, Hesston recorded a combined time of 1:59:04, averaging 23:48 per runner. Wichita State won the men’s team competition with 16 points, followed by Butler Community College with 56 and Emporia State with 91.
The JK Gold Classic marked Hesston’s second competition of the 2026 season. Krumme also led the Larks at the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic on Aug. 27, where he finished 16th overall.
Hesston will continue its 2026 season at the Nebraska Wesleyan Invitational on Saurday (Sept. 19).
