This coming Saturday, September 12th – a hiking, marching and walking event will honor those touched by the events of September 11th, 2001.
A 12.9 mile “ruck march” along the beautiful Meadowlark Trail in McPherson County, Kansas will begin around 8am with a check-in releasing waves of participants until around Noon. In honor of the 25th anniversary of the events of September 11th, 2001 participants will gather for community and camaraderie.
March alongside veterans, first responders, and community members. Please note, this trail route includes uneven ground, inclines, and narrow sections. It is not recommended for wheelchairs or those with significant mobility limitations.
This event is untimed. Participants can walk, run, or “ruck”, but it is meant to be a day of reflection and is not a race. Proceeds raised will go to benefit the non-profit organization The Battle Within. Their mission is to break down barriers and provide all veterans, first responders, and front-line medical workers the mental and behavioral health support they need. Check in will take place at Riverside Park in Lindsborg in waves starting at 8:00 AM on the day of the event. . Marchers will be transported in groups to the trail head in McPherson by Van.
Once our participants reach the end of the trail, they will arrive back at Riverside Park in Lindsborg for a meal courtesy of American Legion Post 140 Lindsborg, KS.
This event is not timed. You do not have to use a ruck sack to participate. Walking or jogging is allowed, but bikes will not be allowed as there is no way to transport them to the trailhead. Also, no pets are allowed on this event. For the comfort and safety of all guests, pets are not allowed. Trained service animals, as defined by the ADA, are always welcome. No bikes please.
