The top-ranked Ellinwood High School volleyball team defeated Beloit, the No. 6-ranked team in Class 3A, 25-19, 25-18, 25-16.
Ellinwood improved to 3-0 and extended its winning streak to 50 consecutive matches.
The defending state champions remain ranked No. 1 in Class 2A.
Ellinwood’s Greg Maxwell named Kansas Volleyball Coach of the Year
After leading Ellinwood High School to the most successful season in program history, Greg Maxwell has been named the 2025-26 Kansas Coaches Association Volleyball Coach of the Year.
Maxwell guided Ellinwood to a 47-0 record last fall, winning an incredible 97 of 100 sets on the way to the Central Prairie League Championship, CPL Tournament title and the first KSHSAA Class 2A State Volleyball Championship in school history.
During eight seasons leading the program, Maxwell has compiled a 275-49 overall record, went an incredible 134-5 against CPL opponents and led Ellinwood to four state tournament appearances.
Maxwell was formally presented with the Kansas Coach of the Year award by USD 355 administration during Ellinwood’s volleyball match last Thursday.
