Students in the Allen Community College Music Department are enjoying a new sectional sofa thanks to a generous donation from Westco Furniture in Iola.
The sectional, donated Aug. 31 by Westco Furniture owner Brek Ulrich, has been placed in the Fishpond area, a gathering space frequently used by music students. The area also serves as the location for student music recitals each semester, making the addition both functional and welcoming for students and visitors alike.
According to Music Department faculty, the donation reflects the strong relationship that has developed between the music program and the Ulrich family over the years. The furniture provides students with a comfortable space to gather, study and prepare for performances while enhancing the atmosphere of one of the department’s most visible areas.
“This donation shows the strong commitment the local community has to the Music Department and Allen Community College,” said Patrick Matarazzo, music instructor at Allen Community College. “I sincerely appreciate Brek Ulrich and Westco Furniture for the generous donation and support. Their kindness and commitment to our students and music program are greatly appreciated. This generosity makes a difference and helps us provide meaningful opportunities for our students.”
The Music Department regularly hosts recitals, performances and other events throughout the academic year, and college officials say contributions such as this help create an environment where students can learn, collaborate and showcase their talents.
Allen Community College provides quality educational and support services in an atmosphere that is caring, safe, and conducive to learning.
