The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School cross country teams opened the season at the Thomas More Prep-Marian Monarch Invitational Saturday at Hays.
Hutchinson Trinity boys placed third in the varsity boys team standings with 75 points.
Quinter placed first with 33, followed by Hoxie with 53. Beloit St. John’s Catholic finished fourth with 77 points, followed by TMP with 123 and Pike Valley 144.
Ellsworth placed first in the varsity girls team competition with 37 points, followed by Beloit St. John’s Catholic 53, Hoxie 54 and Plainville 70.
The Hutchinson Trinity boys placed four runners in the top 22 in the varsity boys 5K race, led by Sam Madden, who placed seventh with a time of 18 minutes, 40 seconds.
Ian Bornholdt placed 14th, 19:40.5; Axel Walline, 18th, 19:51.2; Owen Hammersmith, 22nd, 19:56.91; Tyler Schletzbaum, 32nd, 21:37.1; Elias Pennycuff, 41st, 23:00.8; Josh Parker, 46th, 23:56.7; Jackson Robinson, 49th, 24:19.1; Gavin Scott, 55th, 25:36; Jonathan Springer, 66th, 29:52.4.
Trinity’s Oliver Whiteman placed second in the boys 2-mile race with a time of 12:46.3. Bryce Seitnater placed 24th in 16:34.6.
Trinity’s Ben Bowers placed 48th in the boys 1-mile run with a time of 13:38.7.
Mia Vega led the Hutchinson Trinity junior varsity girls with a 22nd-place time of 25:06.9, followed by Clara Robinson, 33rd, 26:35.9; Emma Martin, 34th, 26:45.2; and Eleanor Wallace, 50th, 31:22.8.
Imani Muiruri placed 34th in the girls 2-mile run with a time of 18:37.8.
Amelia Lou placed 18th in the girls 1-mile run with a time of 6:53.9, followed by Cana Long, 25th, 7:13.3; Lucia Godina, 27th, 7:14.4; Emily Armour, 37th, 7:47.5; and Yanira Jimenez, 38th, 7:51.4.
