COLBY, Kan. – Sweeping the individual titles at the 2026 Terry Masterson Twilight Meet, Hutchinson Community College cross country runners Ashara Frater and Letsepa Prince Madume have been awarded the first Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference Cross Country Runner of the Week awards in 2026.
Ashara Frater (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Women’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Sophomore Ashara Frater broke away from the lead pack early on Thursday night to win the 11th annual Terry Masterson Twilight Classic by an impressive 28.98 seconds at Fun Valley. Frater became the third-straight Blue Dragon runner to win the season-opening Masterson Twilight and lead Hutchinson to a runner-up team finish. Frater earned her second career Top 10 Masterson Twilight finish – Frater placed sixth as a freshman last season – and her first collegiate career victory with a time of 18:35.54 over the 3-mile course. That time ranked 21st in Masterson Twilight women’s race history.
Letsepa Prince Madume (Hutchinson) – KJCCC Men’s Cross Country Runner of the Week
Letsepa Prince Madume led five Hutchinson runners to finish in the top six to win the Terry Masterson Twilight Classic on Thursday at Fun Valley Sports Complex. Madume became the third Blue Dragon men’s runner to win the Masterson Twilight individual championship, joining Andrew Kibet (2018) and Cornelius Kogo (2025) as Masterson champions. Mudame’s winning time was 20:02.93, the 13th-fastest time over the Masterson Twilight four-mile men’s course in race history. He won the race by 25.27 seconds.
