Haven High School’s Kensie Popp captured first place in No. 1 singles Tuesday at the Hillsboro Invitational varsity girls tennis tournament.
Haven’s Jolie Brock placed second in No. 2 singles. Willow Clayman and Kadence Carl placed second in No. 2 doubles. Emilyn Reese and Krosby Jacques finished third in No. 1 doubles.
Paige Loitz got her first win of the season in her second career competition to finish fifth in singles.
Other teams competing were Hillsboro, Hesston, Pratt and Salina Sacred Heart and Nickerson.
The Hillsboro girls tennis team finished third. In No. 1 singles, Brooklyn Thiessen placed third and Abby Beavers fourth. In No. 2 singles, Emma Bartel placed third and Hailey Gilkey fourth.
In 1 doubles, Abi Suderman and Ruthie Paulus placed second. In No. 2 doubles, Bethany Boyd and Kelsey Shaw finished fifth.
Haven also competed at the El Dorado Invitational last Saturday. No results were available.
The Wildcat junior varsity will compete at the Smoky Valley Invitational Thursday in Lindsborg. The meet time was moved up to 9 a.m. because of heat.
