The Hoisington High School volleyball team posted a 4-0 record to capture the Central Kansas League Pre-Season Tournament championship, winning each match in straight sets.
The CKL Pre-Season Tournament was played at Hoisington.
The Cardinals defeated Nickerson (25-16, 25-7) and Haven (25-14, 25-10) in pool play before knocking off Hillsboro in the semifinals (25-14. 25-18) and Halstead (25-21, 25-22) in the championship match.
Hoisington plays Scott City and Southeast of Saline Tuesday night at home and Holcomb and Dodge City Thursday at Dodge City.
The Cardinals then play Haven and St. John-Hudson at home on Sept. 8.
Halstead takes 2nd at CKL Pre-Season Tournament
The Halstead High School volleyball team opened the 2026 season with a 4-1 record and a second-place finish at the Central Kansas League Pre-Season Tournament Saturday at Hoisington.
Halstead lost to the host Cardinals 25-21, 25-22 in the championship match.
Halstead defeated Pratt 25-20, 25-16, Smoky Valley 21-25, 25-12, 25-18, Nickerson 25-18, 25-10 and Hesston 14-25, 25-22, 25-19 to reach the finals.
Nickerson volleyball team 5th at CKL Pre-Season Tournament
The Nickerson High School volleyball team placed fifth in the Central Kansas League Pre-Season tournament Saturday at Hoisington with a 2-2 record.
Nickerson senior Denae Engelland posted her 1,000th career assist.
Nickerson defeated Pratt 25-19, 26-24 in the fifth-place match. In pool play, Nickerson defeated Haven 25-20, 25-17 and lost to Halstead 25-18, 25-10 and Hoisington 25-16, 25-7.
