The Bethany College Women’s Soccer Team opened up their season playing in Hesston, Kansas at Sieber Field battling Hesston College. The Swedes were very excited to begin this year’s season with some new faces on the field and multiple returners.
The Bethany College Women’s Soccer Team battled through Saturday evening’s game vs Hesston College. The Swedes showcased an offensive attack that produced 3 goals throughout the game. The first happening in the 22nd minute, the second in the 53rd minute, and the third in the 84th. The swedes had an impressive 6 shots on goal for the night that led to their 3 goals who were scored by Leila Jones, Kellie McMahon, and Paityn Lawrence. These three were crucial pieces to the Swede’s offense tonight, in addition Elizabeth Holland who also produced an assist for the goal scored in the 84th minute.
Defenensively the Swede’s fought hard, Marie Moseley defended against the Lark’s 14 shots on goal. Over the game she had an impressive 8 saves. The Larks finished the game with 27 total shots attempted, and 9 corner kicks. However, the Swedes defense battled through and prevented many attacks to avoid goals.
Despite the Swede’s best efforts, they fell short to Hesston College who scored 6 goals, making the final score 6-3. The Swede’s ability to generate 6 shots on goal and convert 3 of them into goals shows a promising spark early on in the season, the Swedes will look to build on these positives as they move forward in the season.
