Ad Astra Radio is excited to officially introduce Jeff Garretson, of Lindsborg, as McPherson-Salina News Director.
Garretson began his role with Ad Astra Radio on July 20, 2026.
In addition to local news coverage for the McPherson and Salina areas, Garretson’s responsibilities will also include overseeing the execution of high school sports video.
Garretson brings over three decades of experience to the Ad Astra team. He has served in many roles over the years, including production director (Sterling, Colorado), an ESPN sports reporter (Denver, Colorado), an operations manager and host on Colorado’s Christian Talk Station KLTT, and most recently had a 19-year run as a host and news reporter on 1150 KSAL in Salina.
“We’re excited and honored to add someone as experienced as Jeff to our team,” Ad Astra Radio President and Chief Executive Officer Chris Shank said. “We believe passionately in local news and Jeff’s addition to our Ad Astra Radio News Team just strengthens our ability to connect and inform the towns we serve.”

Garretson grew up in Sterling, Colorado, and was fascinated by radio as a youngster.
“I was the kid who fell asleep listening to the radio at night, dreaming I would one day be on the air…or become an astronaut,” Garretson said with a laugh.
Garretson played college baseball at Kansas Wesleyan University and at the University of Northern Colorado and stays active in the sport, coaching the Smoky Valley Home Educators (SVHE) Eagles varsity baseball team. He loves spending time with his wife, Deb and enjoys when all six children get together on their small farm near Lindsborg.
