The Andale High School volleyball team enters the 2026 season as the defending 4A state champion with a veteran roster and another championship firmly in its sights.

The program went 36-1 in 2025 and returns seven of its returning varsity players, with all seven being seniors heading into the new season.

Andale is again one of the top teams to watch in the state, according to Sports in Kansas.

Head coach Scott Johnson enters his third season at Andale with a 65-8 record, having coached exclusively at the school. He will be joined by assistant coach Jenna Jarmer, JV coach Trisha Sohm and freshman coach Riley Wiebe.

The returning group is led by two of the top players in 4A.

Outside hitter Abbey McNeal was a first-team All-State and first-team All-State Tournament Team selection in 2025, along with earning first-team all-league honors.

McNeal, who is committed to the University of Nebraska-Kearney, will be among the players in the conversation for 4A Player of the Year.

Middle blocker Reagan Winter also returns after earning second-team All-State, first-team All-State Tournament Team and first-team all-league recognition last season. She is committed to Washburn University in Topeka.

With seven seniors returning from a 36-win state championship team, Andale has the experience necessary to make another serious run at the 4A title.

Johnson told Sports in Kansas that he believes his team is ready for the opportunity.

“We will be loaded with seniors for the 2026 season and will be in position to contend for another state championship,” Johnson said. “Our kids are excited and anxious to get started this season.”

Andale owns two state championships in program history, winning its first in 2021 before capturing the 4A title again in 2025.

With McNeal, Winter and a deep senior class back in 2026, the Indians will look to defend their championship and add another trophy to the program’s growing history.

Andale opens the 2026 volleyball varsity season with a scrimmage at the Andover Volleyball Jamboree at 4:30 p.m., followed by key regular-season matches and tournaments through mid-October.
