Neosho County Community College opened the 2026-27 athletic season with a pair of standout individual performances, as volleyball’s Mckenzye Williamson and women’s soccer’s Constanca Azevedo were recognized as KJCCC Division II Players of the Week.
Williamson was named the KJCCC Division II Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week after making an immediate impact in her collegiate debut at the Season Opening Tournament in Rockford, Illinois. The freshman played a key role in helping the Panthers secure three victories over nationally ranked opponents while anchoring Neosho County’s defense.
Williamson recorded at least 18 digs in each of Neosho County’s four matches, averaging 5.73 digs per set throughout the tournament. She also proved to be a steady presence in serve receive, recording 114 clean receptions on 126 attempts.
Her defensive consistency helped the Panthers navigate a challenging opening weekend and establish themselves as one of the top teams in the KJCCC early in the season.
On the pitch, Azevedo earned KJCCC Division II Women’s Soccer Goalkeeper of the Week honors following an impressive opening weekend in goal for the Panthers.
Azevedo appeared in both of Neosho County’s matches, helping the Panthers to a 4-1 victory over Dallas College Eastfield and a 1-1 draw against NJCAA Division I Barton Community College.
Making her collegiate debut against Eastfield, Azevedo played the second half and turned away both shots she faced, recording a clean 45 minutes in goal.
Three days later, Azevedo delivered another strong performance against Barton. She stopped 10 of the 11 shots she faced, including five saves in the second half as the Panthers battled to a 1-1 draw.
