Burlington will host the 2026 Smoke on the River BBQ event Saturday, Sept. 5, at Kelley Park, with activities planned throughout the day for barbecue enthusiasts and the community.
The event will include the Kids Q Competition, sponsored by the Coffey County Attorney and Sheriff’s Office, for youth ages 10 and under and 11 to 16. Participants will prepare locally grown Wagyu beef from Wayside Cattle Co., with registration costing $10 and only 20 spots available.
The evening will feature a Saturday Night Smoke Social from 6 to 8 p.m., including a community pulled pork dinner and live music featuring Lora McDonald. The event is sponsored by MT Networks and Coffey County, and organizers are inviting the community to enjoy food, music and an evening of fellowship at Kelley Park.
