A new bronze monument honoring James Butler “Wild Bill” Hickok now stands at Old Abilene Town.
The statue was dedicated during Chisholm Trail Days, with community members and the artist’s family attending. Abilene Convention and Visitors Bureau Director Julie Roller Weeks and Mayor Brandon Rein spoke.
The piece, by artist David R. Young, commemorates Abilene’s cattle-town past and Hickok’s time as marshal.
