SALINA, Kan. – The Land Institute is hosting a “Community Days” event at the Marty Bender Nature Area in Salina on September 15th, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., focusing on native prairie preservation and wetland renewal. This interactive program invites the public to learn about sustainable stewardship while actively participating in Jenny Kendler’s “House of Water” land sculpture project.
Plant ecologist Dr. Jennifer Moody will lead a community planting, providing guidance as volunteers work to establish over 30 native species. Prairieland Market will kick off the evening with a complimentary meal, and Dr. Moody will host an educational presentation regarding the environmental impact and goals of the restoration.
The event is designed to be inclusive for all ages and skill levels, and organizers encourage guests to RSVP early to ensure proper preparation and to receive the latest updates.
