Former University of Arkansas and Hutchinson Community College defensive tackle Danny Saili has committed to the University of Oklahoma football team through the transfer portal.
Saili is able to transfer to the Sooners thanks to a federal court ruling in Colorado that gave the Class of 2022 athletes a fifth season in the NCAA.
The injunction limits transfers, but since Saili has been in the portal since January, he is able to switch teams.
The 6-foot-3, 319-pound senior interior lineman will join the Sooners for his final season of college football eligibility.
Saili’s decision was first reported by ON3’s Pete Nakos and George Stoia III on Monday. Saili confirmed it himself by updating his X bio to read, “D tackle at OU football.”
Saili will cap the Sooners’ roster at the maximum 105-man list and brings SEC experience to OU football as he played 11 games last season for the Razorbacks.
Saili previously committed to Oklahoma on June 14, 2023, during his time at Hutchinson Community College. After leaving HutchCC, Saili also spent one semester at BYU.
He eventually landed at Arkansas, but more than three years later, Saili is now set to finally make his way to Norman.
Saili recorded 10 tackles, 2.5 tackles for loss, two quarterback hurries and a pass breakup for the Razorbacks during the 2025 season. Arkansas posted a disappointing 2-10 season.
His most productive performance came against Texas, when Saili recorded four tackles, including one for loss, while adding a pass breakup.
He also registered a tackle for loss and quarterback hurry against Memphis.
Saili appeared in seven games for Arkansas in 2024, primarily on special teams and finished with four tackles.
Before arriving in Fayetteville, Saili was a productive defensive lineman at HutchCC.
He totaled 21 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and four sacks in 2023 after recording 18 tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss and four sacks as a freshman in 2022.
Oklahoma’s head coach is Brent Venables, a former defensive coordinator at Kansas State University and Clemson University who played linebacker at Garden City CC and K-State.
Hutchinson High School alumnus Nate Dreiling, the son of former Salthawk head coach Randy Dreiling, is the inside linebackers coach at Oklahoma. He was an All-American linebacker at Pittsburg State.
Dreiling served as defensive coordinator and interim head football coach at Utah State University and defensive coordinator at New Mexico State University.
