Moundridge enters the 2026 season looking to build on an 8-3 campaign that ended in the Kansas Class 1A playoffs and is a Sports in Kansas Team to Watch in 2026.
The Wildcats will have some new faces stepping into larger roles after graduating 13 seniors, but head coach Tyler O’Connor believes the returning core has the ability to develop quickly.
O’Connor enters his fourth season at Moundridge with a 25-5 record as head coach (13th season overall).
“Anytime you lose 13 seniors you know the next group will have to step up,” O’Connor said. “That is exactly what I expect to happen this year as new faces emerge into new roles. We have a strong core of kids that will be stepping into roles this season and I expect they continue to grow as the year goes on.”
Senior Logan Greenwalt returns as one of the team’s top all-around playmakers. He posted 279 all-purpose yards, two touchdowns, 47 tackles and three interceptions last season.
Senior linemen Atley Lichti and Logan Wulf provide experience in the trenches after helping an offense rush for more than 2,000 yards in 2025, while Wulf also contributed 21 tackles defensively.
Senior Garet Wedel adds another key two-way contributor after totaling 45 tackles, nine tackles for loss and three sacks.
Senior Tione Wilson is another player to watch after showing potential during the offseason. The 6-foot, 195-pound athlete is expected to play running back and middle linebacker.
Senior Josh Koehn also returns as a versatile contributor in the secondary and at skill positions
On special teams, senior Cyrus Blough brings one of the state’s strongest legs after connecting on 39 of 41 extra points, recording a 62-yard punt and kicking a 56-yard field goal last season.
