A group of Kansas small town standouts, including Pretty Prairie High School’s Lauren Detter, posted a time of 9 minutes, 22.89 seconds to place first in the 15/16 Girls 4×800 meter relay at the AAU Junior Olympics track championships.
The AAU Junior Olympics took place Aug. 1-8 at Drake University Stadium in Des Moines, Iowa.
Detter placed third in the 800 and second in the 1600 at the Kansas Class 1A state track meet in May.
Lilly Bruna of Hanover placed fourth in the 800 meters at the Class 1A state track meet.
Taryn Boydston of Ellis placed third in the 3200 at the Class 1A state cross country meet and fourth in the 1600 at state.
Olivia Hober of Wakeeney-Trego placed fifth in both the 800 and 1600 at the Class 2A state track meet.
The relay team was coached by Bob Smith.
