St JOHN, Kan. — Stafford County will hold a public hearing on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at 8:30 AM at Stafford County Annex, 210 E. 3rd Ave., St. John, Kansas, 67576, for the purpose of considering an application to be submitted to the Kansas Department of Commerce for Small Cities Community Development Block Grant funds under the Community Facilities category.
A specific project to be discussed is construction of a new childcare facility located at 309 N. Main St., Macksville, Kansas 67557. The estimated project cost is $509,500.00, with the grant request for $420,000.00 of the project cost and a local match of $89,500.00 from private County funds. Other project proposals introduced at the public hearing will be considered.
Oral and written comments will be recorded and become a part of Stafford County’s CDBG Citizen Participation Plan. Reasonable accommodations will be made available to persons with disabilities.
