Amyah Werth has been one of Class 2A’s top defensive specialists throughout her high school volleyball career, but she’ll take on a new challenge this fall as Hillsboro’s six-rotation outside hitter.
Werth was recognized by Sports in Kansas as a preseason Player to Watch in the fall of 2026.
The 5-foot-5 senior was a varsity starter on Hillsboro’s state championship team as a freshman and has since earned three straight All-State honors, back-to-back State All-Tournament Team selections and three consecutive First Team Central Kansas League honors.
Last season, Werth helped the Trojans finish 35-11 and place third at the state tournament while recording 698 digs, 47 aces, averaging seven digs per set with a 2.3 serve receive rating. She enters her senior season with 1,821 career digs and will be counted on in an expanded offensive role.
“I am very excited for this upcoming season because of how different of a team we will be,” Werth told Sports.in Kansas. “Losing seven seniors will definitely be a challenge, but I also believe that my teammates this year will be able to step into their new roles!”
Werth has also been a standout on the basketball court, earning back-to-back First Team Central Kansas League honors and All-State recognition.
She currently holds volleyball offers from MidAmerica Nazarene, Tabor College and Marian University.
Athletics also run deep in her family.
Her sister Zaylee Werth was a two-time Class 2A Player of the Year and now stars at MidAmerica Nazarene after earning Heart of America Freshman of the Year honors.
Her mother Tesha Werth is a Tabor College Hall of Famer in both volleyball and basketball.
