The Great Bend Bat Cats lost their third Pool C game to the BTL Hornets 7-6 Tuesday afternoon at Wichita State University’s Eck Stadium.
The Bat Cats, who were shut out 8-0 by the Santa Barbara Foresters and 7-0 by the Liberal Bee Jays, went 0-3 in pool play and were eliminated.
Great Bend finished the season with a 24-11 record.
Great Bend scored two runs in the top of the first inning, one in the second and three in the eighth on six hits.
The Hornets scored three runs in the bottom of the first, two in the third, one in the fifth and added the walk-off run in the ninth on 10 hits.
BTL won the game despite making four errors.
Great Bend used five pitchers in the game — Ben Smith, Lane French, Carter Graham, Brody Curran and Sam Benz.
BTL used four pitchers — Brad Jones, Hayden Peterson, Even Fleet and Brad Blankenship.
George McCarroll and Cesar Chavira each had two hits for the Bat Cats. TJ Shaw and Walker Wakeland each had one hit. McCarroll and Wakeland each had doubles.
Shaw stole two bases. Tyson Owens was hit by a pitch, stole two bases and drove in one run.
BTL’s Josh Holmes homered, doubled, drove in two runs and was hit by a pitch. Kyle Graves had two hits and was hit by a pitch. Blankenship and Clayton Anderson each had two hits.
The top three teams in each pool advanced to Bracket Play.
The BTL Hornets (2-1 in Pool C play) advanced to Bracket Play and will take on the Seattle Blackfins (1-2 in Pool A play) at 3 p.m. Wednesday.
Other bracket play games Wednesday are Tess’s Army vs. Austin Gold Sox at noon, Hutchinson Monarchs vs. Liberal Bee Jays at 6 p.m. and Hays Larks vs. Seattle Cheney Studs at 8:30 p.m.
