Former Andale standouts Katelyn and McKenzie Fairchild, now competing for Texas A&M, placed sixth and seventh in the women’s javelin at the 2026 Toyota USATF Outdoor Championships in New York.
According to Sports in Kansas, Katelyn finished sixth with a throw of 53.76 meters (176 feet, 4 inches), while McKenzie placed seventh at 53.15 meters (174 feet, 4 inches).
The Fairchilds competed against many of the nation’s top professional and collegiate throwers.
The sisters also rank among the greatest javelin throwers in Kansas high school history.
Katelyn is second all-time in Kansas at 175-4, while McKenzie ranks fourth all-time at 169-4 with the current implement.
The Fairchild family has become one of the most accomplished athletic families in Kansas.
Along with Katelyn and McKenzie, brother Mason Fairchild was an All-State football standout at Andale before playing collegiately as a star tight end at Kansas.
Two other Fairchild brothers also earned Kansas All-State honors, and multiple cousins have gone on to compete at the Division I level.
