Ellinwood High School junior Eleanor Joiner enters the 2026 cross country season as one of the athletes to watch after building an impressive résumé during her first two high school seasons.

Joiner holds the Ellinwood school record in the 800 meters with a time of 2 minutes, 18.24 seconds, and has consistently contributed across multiple events at the state level.

As a freshman, Joiner placed 15th in cross country, helped her team earn 2nd place in the 4×800 relay, and added a 5th-place finish in the 4×400 relay at the state track meet.

She followed that up as a sophomore with a 4th-place finish in cross country, while also helping the 4×800 relay place 5th and the 4×400 relay place 4th at state.

Another Ellinwood athlete who could be poised for a breakthrough season is Jenna Borror.

Borror placed 18th at state cross country as a freshman and is coming off a strong wrestling season in which she earned a third-place finish at the state tournament.

Joiner is excited about the opportunities ahead for the Eagles this fall.

“I’m excited to get with my team again this season. We are hoping to be able to place at state. I’m ready to get better and faster and to cheer on my friends,” said Joiner.
