McPHERSON, Kan. — The McPherson Healthcare Foundation has received a $273,521 grant from The Patterson Family Foundation to support laboratory and MRI equipment upgrades at McPherson Hospital.

The grant will support significant investments in both laboratory and MRI services. New laboratory technology will enhance efficiency and expand diagnostic capabilities, while replacement MRI equipment will help ensure patients continue to have access to safe, reliable imaging services at McPherson Hospital. Together, these upgrades will support clinical teams and help physicians and care teams receive timely, accurate diagnostic information to guide patient care.

“We are incredibly grateful to The Patterson Family Foundation for investing in the health of our community,” said Amy Bower, Director of the McPherson Healthcare Foundation. “This grant reflects the Foundation’s commitment to strengthening rural healthcare and will have a lasting impact on the patients we serve.”

Since opening its MRI suite in 2021, McPherson Hospital has experienced steady growth in MRI utilization, while laboratory testing volumes have also continued to increase. These upgrades will help the hospital meet that growing demand while maintaining timely access to essential diagnostic services.

“This investment allows us to strengthen essential diagnostic services that our patients rely on every day,” said Tanner Wealand, President and Chief Executive Officer of McPherson Hospital. “These equipment upgrades will help us improve efficiency, support our clinical teams, and continue providing high-quality laboratory and MRI services for our community.”

Equipment funded through the grant will be installed over the coming months, including installation, staff training, and integration into existing hospital systems.

This project is supported in part by a 2026 grant from The Patterson Family Foundation.
