The Hutchinson Monarchs couldn’t get their bats going Saturday, as a lengthy weather delay and sharp pitching from Junction City foiled the Monarchs in a 5-2 loss at Hobart-Detter Field.

The game was delayed about 90 minutes in the third inning when storms passed through Hutchinson. Junction City led 1-0 at the time.

Junction City pitcher Keaton Matlick held the Monarchs to just one hit in five innings.

Junction City added four runs in the eighth inning, but the Monarchs responded with two runs on a Jackson Schanuel home run. That was just one of three Monarchs hits.

The Monarchs fall to 7-3 and will travel to Junction City for a 6 p.m. game Sunday.
