The Hutchinson Monarchas had a rough night Saturday, as the Kansas Cannons scored the first 13 runs en route to a 13-2 win at Hobart-Detter Field.
It was the Cannons’ second straight win over the Monarchs, who started the season 4-0.
The Cannons scored four runs in the top of the third inning, and then broke the game open with an eight-run fifth inning.
The Cannons outhit the Monarchs 12-7 and did not commit an error, while the Monarchs committed two.
The Monarchs scored their only runs in the seventh inning on a two-run home run from Marcus Gradney. The game ended after the seventh inning due to the 10-run mercy rule.
The Monarchs fell to 4-2 and will play again at 6 p.m. Sunday against the Derby Twins at Hobart-Detter Field.
