RENO COUNTY, Kan. – Mike Sullivan of Hutchinson announced Monday his candidacy for the Reno County Commission District 1 seat to succeed Randy Parks. “I admire Randy and his common sense conservative approach to issues before the commission” Sullivan said. “I strongly believe he has served the taxpayers and the county well.”

Sullivan is a Kansas native and has lived in the Hutchinson area most of his life. He earned an accounting degree from Wichita State University. He began his career in accounting at Carey Salt and served for 28 years as the business manager for USD 309 in Nickerson-South Hutchinson district. Since retirement he has volunteered as a tax preparer for VITA and has had a part-time lawn mowing business.

“My platform is efficient use of taxes, cost control and property tax relief in Reno County” stated Sullivan. “I am still learning about the issues, but I know that my number one job is to listen to the voters and to do what is best for working families in our county.”

Mike Sullivan has been married to his wife, Beverly, for five decades and has three adult sons. He is very active in his church and has also served previously as a Republican Precinct Committeeman.

The primary election this year is Tuesday, August 4th. The general election is Tuesday, November 3rd.
