Berean Academy’s Ryley Busenitz outjumped Moundridge’s Heath Churchill and Hutchinson Trinity’s Isaac Hammersmith to win the Kansas Class 2A boys high jump Saturday at the Kansas State High School Track and Field Championships.
The state track meet took place Friday and Saturday at Crossland Stadium on the Wichita State University campus.
The Berean Academy boys placed fifth in Class 2A with 38 points and the Warrior girls placed 11th with 27 points.
Both Busenitz and Churchill cleared 6 feet, 8 inches, but Busenitz won the tiebreaker with fewer attempts. Busenitz placed first and Churchill second. Hammersmith placed third at 6-6.
Busenitz also placed fourth in the 2A boys 400-meter dash.
Berean’s Adrienne Mullins placed fourth in the 2A girls discus. Rebecca Wilder placed sixth in the 2A girls 300-meter hurdles.
