The Hutchinson Monarchs, the 2023 and 2025 National Baseball Congress champions and 2024 runners-up, begin the 2026 summer baseball season Friday and Saturday against the Rose Hill Performance Factory Phenoms.
Tuesday was the official reporting day for Hutchinson Monarchs players.
The season-opening game will be played Friday at Rose Hill and the home-opening game will be played Saturday at Hobart-Detter Field in Hutchinson.
First pitch for the home-opener is 7 p.m. Saturday. Fans are encouraged to get to Hobart-Detter Field early to meet the 2026 Monarchs. There also will be a special trophy presentation before the game.
On Sunday, the Monarchs will host the Kingman Islanders at 7 p.m.
The Monarchs posted an overall record of 33-8 in 2025 and captured the 2025 Jayhawk Collegiate League championship with a 25-7 mark.
The Monarchs, founded in 2009, defeated the Lonestar Kraken 21-4 in the 2025 NBC championship game at Equity Bank Park in Wichita.
The Monarchs lost to the Hays Larks 7-3 in the NBC championship game in 2024.
Hutchinson also won Jayhawk Collegiate League titles in 2016, 2020 and 2021.
The Monarchs have participated in the NBC World Series in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2015, 2016, 2018, 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022 prior to competing in the NBC title game in three straight seasons.
Casey Lippoldt will be the Monarchs’ head coach for the fourth straight season. Prior to being head coach, Lippoldt was a Monarchs’ player for two seasons and served as an assistant coach for two seasons.
Lippoldt will be assisted by Bodi Wallar. Marc Blackim is the general manager/owner.
The season concludes with the Monarchs’ participation in the NBC World Series July 23 to Aug. 1 in Wichita.
Key highlights include a Cancer Awareness Night June 20, Parents Weekend on June 27 and a 4th of July celebration.
