The Haven High School softball team lost to Silver Lake 12-6 in the semifinals of the Kansas Class 3A state tournament Wednesday afternoon at Arrocha Stadium-Rock Chalk Park on the University of Kansas campus in Lawrence.
Southeast of Saline rallied for a 2-1 victory Wednesday over Jefferson West in the other semifinal game of the Kansas Class 3A state softball tournament.
Haven (28-3) will play Jefferson West (22-7) in the third-place game of the Class 3A state softball tournament at 3 p.m. Thursday.
Silver Lake (27-4) will play Southeast of Saline (26-1) in the championship game at 1:30 p.m. Friday. It’s just the second time in school history that Southeast of Saline will play for a state softball title.
Silver Lake scored four runs in the top of the first inning and two in the second to take a 6-0 lead.
Rylee Myers belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the second inning for Haven, but Silver Lake scored three runs in the top of the third to lead 9-2.
Haven cut the Eagles’ lead to 9-6 on RBI singles by Mayzie Warden and Avery Brawner and a two-run single by Morgan O’Neal.
Silver Lake scored one run in the top of the sixth and two in the seventh to take a 12-6 lead.
Warner, Brawner and Myers each had two hits for the Wildcats and O’Neal drove in two runs.
