Andale, Buhler, McPherson Boys Golf Teams are Class 4A State Tournament Bound

The boys golf teams from Andale, Buhler and McPherson took first, second and third at the Kansas Class 4A sub-state tournament at the par-72 Cherry Oaks Golf Course in Cheney.

The top three finishing teams at each regional/sub-state site automatically qualified for the state tournament May 26-27 at the Hesston Golf Course.

The top five individual players who are not on a qualifying team also qualified for the state tournament. All ties for the fifth qualifying spot are included.

Andale captured the 4A sub-state with a 24-over-par score of 312. Buhler placed second with a 325 score and McPherson was third with a 329 score.

Rose Hill placed fourth at 366, followed by Mulvane 391, Hugoton 393, Pratt 400, Ulysses 402 and Clearwater 413.

Andale placed all six of its golfers in the top 16, led by first-place medalist Brooks Dyer with a 1-over-par 73. Cavan Schueller placed third with a 78, Jackson Bell was sixth, 80; Brody Calvert, seventh, 81; Sam Kuepker, ninth, 82; and Oliver Spexarth, 16th, 85.

Buhler’s Zach Chance placed second with a 77 and Jace Horning was fourth with a 79, followed by Ben Gazaway, 12th, 84; Nick Chance, 15th, 85; Carson Thibault, 18th, 87; and Isaiah Heredia, 21st, 91.

McPherson’s Cole Cooper placed fifth with an 80, followed by Hudson Krehbiel, eighth, 82; Paxton Ingels, 10th, 83; Hunter Vogelsberg, 13th, 84; Zane Sporleder, 23rd, 92; and Drake Timson, 33rd, 98.

Individual state qualifiers (other than from the top three teams) were: Pratt’s Beau Ferrell, 11th, 83; Hugoton’s Len Stand, 14th, 85; Rose Hill’s Tucker Saferite, 17th, 86; Ulysses’ Saven Rosales, 119th, 88; and Rose Hill’s Wyatt Hottovy, 20th, 89.
