HUTCHINSON, Kan. — Hutchinson Clinic is sending patient letters to inform the community of a recent policy change by Kroger affiliated pharmacies, including Dillons Pharmacy locations, regarding the filling of certain controlled substance prescriptions.
Kroger has notified Hutchinson Clinic that its pharmacies will no longer fill controlled substance prescriptions written by certain providers within the Clinic. This decision was made independently by Kroger and applies across its affiliated pharmacy locations.
“We understand the challenges this may create for our patients and sincerely regret they are being put in this position,” said Hutchinson Clinic leadership. “Our team has made extensive efforts to work collaboratively with Kroger to resolve this matter, but their position has not changed.”
Hutchinson Clinic emphasized that its Physiatry department adheres to strict prescribing guidelines and maintains a strong commitment to patient safety and responsible medication management. The organization also noted that Kroger’s decision should not be interpreted as a reflection of the quality of care provided by Hutchinson Clinic or its providers.
Clinic representatives have continued to engage with Kroger by supplying additional information and responding to pharmacist inquiries in an effort to reach a resolution.
Hutchinson Clinic remains focused on ensuring continuity of care for its patients. Staff members are working directly with individuals affected by the policy change to identify alternative pharmacy options and minimize any disruption in access to necessary medications.
Patients with questions or immediate needs are encouraged to contact Hutchinson Clinic at (620) 669-2500 for assistance.
“We appreciate our patients’ patience and understanding as we navigate this situation,” the Clinic said. “We are committed to supporting their health and continuing to provide high-quality care.”
