McPHERSON, Kan. – McPherson High School Track & Field took part in the McPherson Varsity Invitational on Thursday, April 30, seeing 48 new personal records, 10 event winners, and a broken school record.
The Bullpup Boys team won the invitational, while the Girls placed in 2nd. The event was highlighted by senior Caden Wenderott, who broke the school’s 43-year record in the Discus, throwing 172′ 10″. The throw also marked the best in 4A and the 10th best in Kansas overall. Wenderott is signed to participate in Track & Field at McPherson College after high school.
“We were blessed with another great night on the track, both in weather and in performances,” head coach John Montgomery said. “The night was extra special because we were able to celebrate our 16 graduating seniors during the meet. Our Pups continue to show fantastic growth deep into the varsity season.”
