The No. 26 ranked Barton Community College Barton Community College men’s golf team saw its season come to a close Tuesday in weather impacted conditions in Springfield, Missouri, finishing eighth at the Central District Championships held at Rivercut Golf Course.
Barton shaved three strokes off its opening round with a second round 306 to move within nine shots of fourth-place contention, but a final round 313 kept the Cougars locked into eighth with a 54-hole total of 64-over par 928 (309-306-313).
Top-ranked Indian Hills ran away with the team title through multiple weather delays, holding steady at 23-under par 841, finishing twenty-eight strokes clear of No. 7 Hutchinson at 5-over 869, while No. 11 Garden City placed third at 36-over 900.
Phattarapol Ongla‘s tie for 18th of the 60-man field led Barton at 10-over par 226 (74-78-74). Matteu Cauvin-Piacentini followed two strokes back in a tie for 23rd at 12-over 228 (76-71-81), highlighted by the team’s low round of the tournament with an even-par 71 in the second round.
Landon Timmermeyer paced the remaining Cougar entries with a tie for 34th at 21-over 237 (79-78-80), finishing three strokes ahead of both Talon Reynolds (78-79-83) and Kobey Jackson (81-81-78), who tied for 39th at 24-over 240. Wintakorn Suwanmuang rounded out the lineup in 42nd at 25-over 241 (80-79-82).
