The Hutchinson Trinity Catholic High School golf team and Hutchinson Central Christian’s Cael Kooiman captured first place at the Inman Varsity Invitational Tuesday at the par-72 Crazy Horse Golf Course in Hutchinson.
Trinity placed all six of its golfers in the top 16 and posted a 341 score, beating second-place Russell (369) by 28 strokes. Central Christian placed third with a 395 score, followed by Berean Academy 435 and Sedgwick 459.
Inman, Goessel and the Russell junior varsity did not have enough players to post team scores. The top 15 golfers earned medals.
Kooiman captured first-place individual medalist honors with a 79. Russell’s Jake Mooney and Trinity’s Tyler Casebolt both fired 80s in regulation. Mooney placed second and Casebolt third through a playoff.
Trinity’s Ian Shaw placed sixth with an 85, followed by Dean Nelson, seventh, 88; Miles Blaylock, eighth, 88; Matt Armour, 10th, 94; and Seamus Hogan, 16th, 102.
Central Christian’s Tyler Reed placed fifth, 85; Adam Eigsti, 20th, 110; Karson Sullivan, 26th, 121; Bruce Wilson, 27th, 124; and Bo Hobbes, 32nd, 128.
Inman’s top golfer was Braeden Stutzman, 19th, 108; followed by Creighton Friesen, 22nd, 114; and Wyatt Jonas, 33rd, 129.
Other medal-winners were Goessel’s Levi Schrag, fourth, 83; Russell’s Tyler Neal, ninth, 93; Berean Academy’s Luke Friesen, 11th, 97; Russell’s Braxton Parsons and Solomon Moreland, 12th and 13th, 98; Berean Academy’s Mason Balzer and Russell’s Aiden Dinkel, 14th and 15th, 99.
