Hutchinson High swimmer Julianna Stivers reached a milestone on April 14 during a meet Campus.
At that meet, Stivers reached 1,000 career points. Stivers helped accumulate 80 points, including 15 in the 100-yard backstroke, where she finished fourth.
Now halfway through her junior year, Stivers becomes the 10th Salthawk to score 1,000 career points.
Stivers started swimming at 8-years old, swimming for clubs in Hays and then in Hutchinson. She has been something of a Swiss Army knife, competing in the freestyle at 50, 100, 200 and 500 yards; the butterfly at 50 and 100; the breaststroke at 50 and 100 yards; the 200 individual medley; and the 50 and 100 backstroke.
Coach Brad Johnson is Stivers’ grandfather. Both Brad Johnson and Stivers’ great-uncle Alan Johnson are Salthawk swimming alumni, as are Stivers’ parents, Tom and Taylor Stivers (class of 1999).
