The Nickerson High School girls and boys track teams competed Friday at the Larned Invitational.
The Nickerson girls brought home three first-place finishes: Amanda Peil, 3200-meter run, 15:57.21; Bella Brinkley, tripe jump, 35-3.50; and Delaney Childs, javelin, 123-10. Childs’ javelin toss was considered an elite performance by Heartland Timing.
Elizabeth Dick, Kay King and Childs placed third, fourth and fifth in the girls discus (93-6, 93-0.5 and 91-4). Dick and King were fourth and fifth in the girls shot put (30-1.75 and 29-10.5).
Lexi Engelland was fourth in the 400 (1:16.78). Jaycie Ohnmacht was fourth in the 1600-meter run (6:43.21) and 800 (2:53.96). Brinkley was seventh in the 800 (3:11.41).
Montana Peterson and Avery Thompson placed fourth and fifth in the 100-meter hurdles (18.54 and 20.39). Thompson and Peterson were fifth and sixth in the 300 hurdles (1:00.03 and 1:01.09).
For the Nickerson boys, Andy Huggard, Renner Hawks and Kaidence Keeler placed second, third and fifth in the 800 (2:29.87, 2:30.71 and 2:36.04). Aiden Brinkley placed second in the 1600 (5:10.19) and third in the 3200 (11:28.91).
Kason Bright placed second in the long jump (20-9), third in the triple jump (39-8), sixth in the 100 (11.9) and seventh in the 200 (24.93). Evan Trostle placed third in the pole vault (10-0) and Noah Weber was fourth in the triple jump (39-7.5).
Connor Bower placed fourth in the boys shot put (40-8.25) and ninth in the discus (103-5). Carson Ward was fifth in the high jump (5-2) and 10th in the 800 (2:55.72).
Domanyc Giles was seventh in the 100 hurdles (20.96) and ninth in the 200 hurdles (50.57). David Maehs was eighth in the shot put (39-5.5). Logan Clark was eighth in the 200 (25.39).
