McPherson, Kan. – The Bethany College Swedes traveled down to McPherson, Kan. to take on the McPherson College Bulldogs in an important series towards a playoff berth.
GAME 1: SWEDES 10, BULLDOGS 2
The Swedes handled business in the first game of the doubleheader racking up 13 hits and scoring 10 runs enroute to a 10-2 victory.
Avery Newmiller continued her dominance at the plate with another three-for-four game at the plate while driving in three runs and scoring once herself by way of a homerun. Ulissa Rivas also sent one over the fence for her lone hit of the contest. Kalee Aguilar, Kyson Vap, and Addilyn Miller each tallied two hits with Miller also swiping a base.
MacKenzie Yoder drew the start lasting 2.1 innings allowing just three hits and a run scored. Dylann Baker entered in relief for the final 4.2 innings also allowing just three hits, one run, with seven strikeouts.
GAME 2: SWEDES 5, BULLDOGS 9
The second game of the series looked good early on as the Swedes were up 5-2 after the top of the third inning capped off by a Kyson Vap two-RBI singles scoring Alex Udy and Addilyn Miller. The Bulldogs would answer back with seven unanswered runs to take Game 2 9-5 and split the series 1-1.
The bats were flying for the Swedes who recorded 10 hits from eight different players. Alex Udy and Abigail Taylor each had two hits. Avery Newmiller had the lone extra-base hit for Bethany with a double in the third inning.
In the circle, Jordyn Stelzig drew the start lasting 4.2 innings. Amia Alexander-Sims entered to close out the fifth inning striking out one before Dylann Baker pitched the entire sixth inning.
