Andale Track and Field Off to Strong Start, Golf Team Finishes Third at Collegiate Invitational

Spring sports are fully underway in Andale. 

TRACK AND FIELD 

The Andale track and field teams are off to a strong start this spring and swept the Maize South Invitational team championships on Thursday.

Andale opened the season winning the Wichita Southeast Invitational on March 26, and followed that up by winning its home invitational, the ‘Bear’ Schmidt Invitational, on April 2. 

The Lady Indians won the Maize South Invite with 108 points, eight ahead of team runner-up Salina Central. The Indians won the Maize South Invite with 119 points, 48 ahead of team runner-up Andover. 

The Andale boys got first-place finishes from Colt Lane in the pole vault, Parker Lies in the 110-meter hurdles, the 4×800-meter relay team made up of Jack Cutler, Toben Easter, Carter Bishop, and Rhett Romero, Cutler in the 3,200-meter run, and Lane Martin in the 800-meter run. 

The Andale girls got first places from Sydney Waltner in the triple jump, Rylee Meyer in the 300-meter hurdles, the 4×400-meter relay team of Maleah Spexarth, Chloe Eck, Rylee Winter and Waltner and the 4x100m throwers relay. 

Andale also had several athletes compete at the K-State Relays on Friday and Saturday in Manhattan. Brayden Spexarth finished third in the javelin (184-1.75), was 10th in the discus (144-0.25) and 18th in the shot put (42-4.50). Hunter Grimes finished ninth in javelin (163-11.50) and 11th in the shot put (47-0.75). On the girls side, Kinley Spexarth finished fifth in the triple jump (33-3.50) and was eight the javelin (119-11.75). Abbey McNeal finished seventh in the javelin (121-7.25). Addy Orth finished ninth in the javelin (113-8.50). 

Andale will travel to Great Bend on April 17th.

BOYS GOLF 

The Andale boys golf team finished third at the Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday, shooting a 301. 

Andale had two top 10 finishers, led by Brooks Dyer’s round of 70, good for fourth, while Jackson Bell took fifth with a 73. Cavan Schueller finished 15th with a 77, while Easton Bell shot an 81, good for 24th. 

Andale opened the season on March 30, taking fifth at the Andover Invitational with a score of 330. Dyer finished fifth with a round of 76.
