Two people were killed in separate crashes in southeast Kansas Thursday.
Kelly Harvey, 57, of Mapleton died in a Thursday morning crash on 125th Street south of Mapleton. The Kansas Highway Patrol said Harvey was northbound on 125th Street a half mile north of Ridge Road when her vehicle left the road twice before overturning multiple times before coming to rest facing south in the west ditch. Harvey was pronounced dead at the scene.
Kelly Shaffer, 58, of Yates Center died Thursday night in a crash on US 54 about four miles west of Yates Center. The Highway Patrol said Shaffer was westbound just west of Jay Road when he lost control of his pickup, which left the road to the right, overcorrected, and went across the highway to the left where it hit the ditch and overturned. Shaffer was pronounced dead at the scene.
KHP crash logs indicate neither driver was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
