ENID, Oklahoma – Sophomore Corey Scullion won a two-hole playoff on Tuesday to win the Oakwood Intercollegiate individual championship at Oakwood Country Club.

Scullion defeated McLennan’s Robert Gonzalez in the playoff to earn his first career collegiate tournament championship.

Scullion led the Blue Dragons to a third-place team finish on Tuesday. McLennan and Indian Hills tied for the team championship after 54-hole totals of 855. The team tiebreaker was the best score in the final round. McLennan out-shot Indian Hills 280-289 in Tuesday’s final 18 holes.

The Blue Dragons had team rounds of 282 and 285 on Monday and closed the tournament with a 287 on Tuesday to finish third at 864.

After eagling the 15th hole for the second-straight round on Tuesday, Scullion held a four-stroke lead over Gonzalez with three holes to play. Things quickly changed as Scullion had a bogey on No. 16 and pars on Nos. 17 and 18 to finish at 4-under 209. Gonzalez closed with three consecutive birdies to force for a tie with Scullion.

Both golfers birdied on the first playoff hole. Scullion’s tee shot on the second playoff hole was right down the middle of the fairway, while Gonzalez hit his tee shot into the rough. Scullion’s approach shot landed on the green, 8 feet from the cup. The Blue Dragon sophomore clinched the individual championship with a second-straight playoff birdie for his first career win.

Scullion shot even-par 71 and 3-under-par 68 on Monday and closed the final round with a 1-under 70 for a 54-hole total of 209. Scullion had an eagle, two birdies and three bogeys on Tuesday. On the par-5 15th hole, Scullion played that hole in 5-under with a birdie and two eagles.
